Booking your first photoshoot can feel exciting, a little nerve-wracking, and honestly… a tiny bit confusing if you’re new to professional photos. That’s where I come in. As a Portland portrait photographer who creates warm, soulful, editorial-style images, my job is to make the entire process feel easy, fun, and made for you.
Whether we’re shooting in a Portland city park, under the evergreens, or on the Oregon Coast at spots like Canon Beach or Roads End Beach, your experience is designed to feel intentional from start to finish. Here’s exactly how it all works.
1. SEND YOUR INQUIRY
This is where everything starts. First thing you’ll do is fill out my inquiry form with your session type, potential date, and anything you already know about your vision. The more details the better, but don’t stress if you’re starting from scratch. I’ve got you.
2. I CHECK AVAILABILITY AND DO A LITTLE VIBE CHECK
Once your inquiry hits my inbox, I’ll check my calendar, make sure I’m available, and then make sure your vision aligns with my style. If everything feels like a match, we move forward.
3. YOU GET ACCESS TO YOUR CLIENT PORTAL + QUESTIONNAIRE
Your client portal is the hub for everything: forms, invoices, guides, photo inspo, the contract, all of it in one place. You’ll fill out a fun, detailed questionnaire so I can get to know your personality, your comfort level, and what type of images you’re dreaming of.
4. DISCOVERY CALL
This is our meet-and-greet call, also known as the “let’s talk vibes” call. Here’s what we cover:
- Your mood boards (if you have them)
- Location ideas
- Possible outfits
- The overall energy you want your photos to give
- Accessibility considerations
- Which package fits you best
Don't worry, it’s chill. It’s fun. It’s where everything starts taking shape.
5. Contract + Retainer
Once we’ve mapped out the plan, I’ll send over your contract and non-refundable retainer invoice. Signing and paying officially locks in your date on my calendar so we can move into the fun parts.
6. You Get Your Welcome Guides
This is where I spoil you a little. You’ll receive two beautifully designed guides:
- What to Expect + How to Prepare Guide
- What to Wear Guide
They’ll tell you everything from how to choose outfits to how to get ready for the day of your shoot.
7. The Lock-It-In Consult Call
This is our second call, but don’t panic; it’s short, sweet, and so helpful. We finalize:
- Your location
- Start time
- Outfits
- Props (if you want them)
- Any last-minute questions
- Weather backups if needed
This call ensures everything feels aligned, clear, and stress-free before shoot day.
8. Photo Shoot Day✨
You made it! You prepped for all the magic, and now your day is here. This is where the magic happens. You show up, I hype you up, we create warm, heartfelt images that feel like you on your best day. Sessions are fun, relaxed, and guided, so you never have to wonder what to do with your hands.
9. YOUR PROOF GALLERY
Within one week, you’ll receive a proof gallery where you can choose your favorite images. This ensures you get exactly what you love and gives you control over which photos I retouch.
10. FINAL GALLERY DELIVERY
Your final edited gallery arrives in 3–4 weeks. You’ll be able to download your images and share your high-resolution photos and choose favorites for prints, albums, or wall art.
